Back in October, when the tragic news of Atsushi's passing came out,
I found myself listening to a lot of his solo works. The song that specifically
got stuck in my head was Yokan. After looking it up I discovered that it was
originally released in 1992 as a collaboration with Clan of Xymox (back then functioning
as XYMOX). A few days later an ad popped up while I was scrolling on Instagram,
and it turned out they were going to perform in my city. To be honest, I hadn't listened
to them before AT ALL. Yet I still bought the tickets. Out of sentiment, I guess. I just
really wanted to see someone who had met Atsushi, even if it was 30 years ago (lol).
Before the event I visited the National Museum with a friend. I've been there
over 5 times last year, so there wasn't much to see for me, but I found 2 new exhibits
that caught my attention: an 18th century robe a la polonaise and a travel case.
As you can see, very eye-pleasing.
By the day of the live I knew no more than 3 songs by Clan of Xymox and hoped that
maybe they would be on the setlist. I hadn't attended a live show in years. I didn't
wear lolita that day, so there's no coord photos, sorry. I wore a full black outfit -
long flared pants, a chinese style blazer by Junko Shimada and pointy boots. It was super
rainy and windy that day. The venue was nice, smaller than I thought, but me & my friend
managed to be in the 1st row somehow. There was a LOT of trad goths. One guy had a 18th
century style tricorn hat and it looked amazing.
As for the live show itself, it exceeded my expectations. Even though I knew only a
few songs, I enjoyed it just as much as I'd known the whole discography.
I got a signed postcard as well. I wanted to take a photo with Ronny, but didn't make
it in time. Hopefully the next time - if they happen to play near me anytime soon, I'll go for sure.
